Dr. Alex Krichels
Dr. Alex Krichels began his position in the Odum School of Ecology in 2026. His research examines how disturbances such as fire, drought, and N deposition affect the cycling of carbon and nitrogen in managed and natural ecosystem. Prior to joining the Odum School, Dr. Krichels worked as a Research Ecologist for the USDA Forest Service’s Rocky Mountain Research Station. He received his PhD in Ecology, Evolution, and Conservation Biology from the University of Illinois and his BA in Biology and Environmental Studies from Oberlin College.
Andrew Blinn
Andrew Blinn manages the Krichels Lab and is interested in how biogeochemical processes respond to environmental change across landscapes. His research background is in freshwater ecosystems, with a particular focus on carbon cycling, organic matter dynamics, and hydrology. He is excited to help build the lab’s research infrastructure while supporting new students in developing practical research skills.
